Itinerary
DAY 1: ERRACHIDIA AIRPORT – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
We will start our desert tour from the airport or hotel in Errachidia. Then we will travel via the Ziz Valley to the fossil-product-producing city of Erfoud. Later, we continue to the Merzouga Desert after visiting the souk of Rissani. In the desert, we will spend the night in a nearby hotel. Enjoy your trip from Errachidia to Merzouga and back in three days.
DAY 2: MERZOUGA DESERT EXCURSION
The second day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga desert. We will also visit the Khamlia village, which is home to Gnawa musicians originally from Mali and Sudan. Later today, we will prepare ourselves for a camel trek to the Erg Chebbi Desert with the help of an experienced camel guide. We will eat lunch with a Berber family who lives in the desert. In the Merzouga desert, we shall witness the sunset. We will have a Berber meal and drum music around the campfire at Merzouga once we get to the desert camp. In Merzouga’s desert, you will spend the night in tents.
DAY 3: RISSANI – Tinghir – Boumalne Dades – Ouarzazate
Start your day with a sunrise camel trek, then depart from Merzouga towards Tinghir, known for its stunning Todra Gorge. Explore the gorge and take a leisurely walk through the canyons. Proceed to Boumalne Dades for lunch with scenic views of the Dades Valley. In the afternoon, travel to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara” and a popular filming location. Visit the famous Kasbah Taourirt before checking into your luxury accommodation for the night.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech – Airport
Depart from Ouarzazate and head towards the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified village. Explore the historic Kasbah with your private guide. Continue your journey through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass with stunning views. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, check into a luxurious riad with a private rooftop terrace, and spend the rest of the day preparing for your departure.
